Person County deputies are responsible for maintaining and verifying all of the Registered Sex Offenders in Person County. The deputies are responsible for making contact with each of these offenders at least once every six months, and verifying that they are living where they say there are living, and ensuring that they are complying with the requirements of being a registered sex offender.
To find out where any of these Registered Sex Offenders are living, you may go to the State of North Carolina Sex Offender Registry webpage at www.sexoffender.ncdoj.gov
In North Carolina, each offender required to register must do so with the Sheriff’s Office in the county in which they reside.
In Person County, registration means the offender must appear in person at the Sheriff’s Office before the sex offender registration officer. During the initial interview the offender must provide proof of address, identification, provide all contact numbers and be fingerprinted and photographed. The offenders are advised of the law with which they must comply. They are advised of the consequences of failing to follow the rules since they could be charged with a felony.
