Self-written description of political philosophy:
I have worked hard to run a campaign based on the needs of the citizens of Person County and my qualifications to serve them. At least four years ago, I made a decision to pursue my career goal to serve the people of Person County as their sheriff. A "grass roots" effort was born when I shared this decision with some friends and sought their advice.

I am a Democrat. But, I do not believe that a person's political affiliation over rides the need to look at the big picture when services are needed or responsibilities are to be met. I am proud to be an American, a native of Person County and I am involved in the activities of my community and my church.

Good politics demand that a person involve himself in the life and needs of other people. In order to meet my personal desire to help others, I have served on the "Relay for Life" team in Person County, served as a volunteer fireman for 23 years, coached our youth, and have been a supporter of "Home Health & Hospice" through our local antique tractor club.

I am active in my church, having served as a deacon, a member of The Stewardship Committee, The Nominating Committee, and The Building & Grounds Committee.

I have been a full time public service officer for the past 19 years, having served in the Butner Public Safety Fire & Police Station in Granville County, the Person County Sheriff's Department and the Roxboro Police Department. During these years, I have helped to apprehend more than 200 drug offenders and 250 criminal offenders. I have taken seriously my responsibility to grow as an officer; please note my training as indicated above.

Community involvement is a key role in being a leader. I have served on the “Relay for Life” coordinating team in Person County, served as a volunteer fireman for 31 years and have coached our youth.
I am active in my church, having served as deacon, a member of the Stewardship Committee, the Nominating Committee, and the Building and Grounds Committee.
I have been a full time public service officer for the past 31 years, having served at Butner Public Safety, Roxboro Fire Department, Person County Sheriff’s Office, and Roxboro Police Department.
During my 8 year tenure as sheriff we have fought against the war on drugs through various successful drug operations: Scriptkeeper, Peekaboo, ICU, and ICU2. As a result, crime rate’s reduced by 20%. We will continue our fight on the war of drugs and gangs so that our citizen’s feel safe.
