Detention Center

    The Person County Detention Center is located on the second floor of the Person County Sheriff’s Office at 120 Court Street. You can access the second floor to the Detention Center by taking the elevator or stairs located in the main entrance of the Sheriff Office.

Phone Call Procedures

Inmates can use the phones in the cell block(s) to make calls. Inmate phone service is provided through Combined Public Communications. To buy phone time for an inmate you can visit www.inmatesales.com or call 877-998-5678. We also have a kiosk in the jail lobby located downstairs of the Law Enforcement Center. The Kiosk will accept cash, debit, and credit cards.

Visitation Policy

    Inmates are allowed (2) 15 minutes visitation period per week  

• All visitors must visit at the same time.

• All visitors 16 years of age or older must produce a valid photo ID prior to being allowed to visit.

• Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Inmates can lose their visitation privileges for inappropriate behavior and failure to follow rules of the Person County Detention Center.

Rust Pod, Holding, and Medical Cells      Saturday 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Yellow Pod, and Female Pod                  Saturday 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Blue Pod                                             Sunday 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Green Pod                                          Sunday 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Inmates Money Account

    All inmates currently have their own commissary account. This account is used for the purchase of personal toiletries and food items. All money that is in the possession of the inmate at the time of processing will be automatically applied to this account. Money can only be applied to an inmates account via cash or money order. The detention center only accepts money for inmates accounts on Wednesday between the hours of 8:00 am-4:00 pm. You can also send cash or money order via postal service on any day of the week.

Bonding Procedures

There are 3 ways to bond and inmate: 

  1. Hire a Bail Bondsman. Their fee is 15% of the bond amount.
  2. Post a bond in cash
  3. Post a property bond. When posting a property bond, any amount greater than $4,999.00 requires hiring an attorney to prepare a Deed of Trust.
