Teen Volunteer Policy

The Person County Public Library welcomes Teen volunteers and recognizes that they are a valuable resource.  Their talents aid the library in executing its mission to provide quality services to the public.  Teen Advisory Board (TAB) volunteers are valuable advocates for the Library and teens.  Joining TAB means sharing your opinions with the Youth Services Librarian and your peers at monthly Monday meetings, which helps us design teen programs and buy resources that are appealing to teens. Please click on this link to see when the next TAB meeting will be held.  The Youth Services Librarian will work to provide volunteer opportunities for TAB volunteers throughout the year.

A Teen is able to volunteer between the ages of 13 to 18. Teens are limited to two hours of volunteer service per day.  The time for teen volunteering in the library is limited during the week but other times may arise as the Youth Services Librarian needs help. Each volunteer must complete the TAB volunteer application, which will be kept on file in the TAB Volunteer Log Book at the circulation desk in the library.  If a teen is under the age of 18 he or she will need a parent or legal guardian to sign the application. If volunteer is being dropped off or picked up by parent, his or her parent must pick teen up 15 minutes prior to closing. When a Teen comes to volunteer or to attend a TAB meeting he or she needs to log his or her time in the TAB Volunteer Log Book. TAB Volunteer talents, experience, availability and interests will be considered by the Youth Services Librarian.

  • Each teen volunteer will be supervised by a library staff member designated as the coordinator and will report to this staff member.
