| Person County Public Library has been awarded an EZ Literacy & Lifelong Learning Grant from the State Library of North Carolina. With this funding the library was able to purchase two AWE computer stations for the children’s area. These two state of the art touch-screen computers equipped with keyboard, mouse, and headphones are perfect for children ages 2 to 14. AWE literacy stations are: “a dynamic all-in-one digital learning solution for children. It requires no Internet connection, so it is safe and secure. The latest version features more than 70 educational software applications spanning seven curricular areas. The educational programs are pre-loaded on the computer and displayed using engaging graphics and intuitive menus. It is available in English, Bilingual Spanish, and Bilingual French.” (www.awelearning.com)
Children, please come and try these computers purchased just for you in the library. We have one early literacy computer designated for ages 2 to 7 and one after school computer just right for ages 8 to 14. Play games, practice math, science, the piano, or just read a story with the Berenstain Bears. There is so much fun and learning only found at your local library.
(These devices were supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the federal Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.) Thank you for making these two literacy computer stations possible for the children of Person County.
