Rescue Groups and Volunteer Programs

Person County Animal Services welcomes the support of Animal Rescue Groups.  Not all dogs or cats can be placed in adoption or actually find a home while at Animal Services.  That is where Animal Rescue Groups play a very important role at shelters.  There are many benefits to adopting from a Rescue Group.  The animals that are placed in a Rescue Group are vetted, trained, exposed to other animals, etc.  Foster parents work hard to ensure the animals are ready for their forever homes.  Most Rescue Groups have websites or list their adoptable animals on

If you are a Rescue Group and interested in rescuing cats or dogs from Person County Animal Services, please complete the following packet of information and return to us.  If you have questions, you can email Kelli Oakley, Rescue Coordinator at

Looking for a way to spend time with dogs PLUS get exercise?  Person County Animal Services offers just that!!  Come walk a dog that is in adoption on our graveled walking track behind the shelter.  This helps you get healthier and allows the dog(s) time out of their kennels. (Weather permitting)
