TAI CHI AT HYCO
The Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks Department would like to announce a class titles “Introduction to Ch’i Kung and T’ai Chi Ch’uan” to be held at the Willuam H. Barker Community Building at the Hyco Lake Park. The class will begin Monday, March 5 at 6:15 pm and continue each Monday through Monday, April 30, 2018. Class time is 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm.
Ch’i Kung consists of sets of exercises that help people mindfully cultivate strength, flexibility, and overall energy. These exercises are easily learned and can be done without equipment or special space requirements. T’ai Chi Ch’uan promotes the cultivation of internal energy and yielding in the face of power and force. Those beginning the study of T’ai Chi Ch’uan learn a form that cultivates stance, movement, economy of motion, and relaxation. This introductory course would be of particular interest to people who wish to introduce a simple but effective physical and mental health regime to their lives.
This class will be led by Darcy Wudel, who has been teaching T’ai Chi since 2007 and is currently teaching this class to the students, faculty, and staff of Piedmont Community College.
The registration fee for this class is $48.00 for Person County residents and $72.00 for those residing outside Person County. The registration deadline, to avoid the $5.00 late fee, for this class is Wednesday, February 28, 2018. There will be no class on Monday, April 2, in observance of the Easter holiday.
You can register on line at our website www.personcounty.net or you can come by our office located at 303 South Morgan Street, Monday through Friday between 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. For more information call the Recreation Office at 336-597-1755.
