American History Program Series

EXPLORE THE AMERICAN STORY

AT PERSON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY

 

     The Person County Public Library is pleased to announce that they have joined the Library Affiliate Program Grant, sponsored by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. They have been awarded a grant to host a five program series titled, “Exploring the American Story.” These five programs will center on social studies topics themed on American history for ages 8 and up. Sign-up your child to participate in our first program “Explorers” with Christopher Columbus discovering America on Tuesday January 9 at 4:00 PM.  Future programs in the series will be “The American Revolution,” “Let’s go west,” “States & Regions,” and the “United States Government.”To find out the dates and times of these programs please visit our "Calendar" in your side navigation.

“We are happy to have been selected as a site for this programming opportunity,” said Amanda Weaver, Youth Services Librarian, “Our library understands the importance of fostering the love of American history among our student-age patrons.” Please register your child to attend this great program series today by calling (336) 330-2293 or email Weaver at aweaver@personcounty.net. “I look forward to exploring the American Story with Person County youths.”

Person County Public Library was chosen through a competitive application process to receive a monetary grant from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History to make these programs possible. The library is part of the founding membership of the Gilder Lehrman Institute’s new Library Affiliate Program, which is designed to help public and academic librarians bring American history to life for students and teachers.   The library would like to thank Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History for funding this program series for Person County children.
