What to Do When You Hit the Genealogy “Brick Wall”

Most African-Americans were not listed in census records before 1870. Genealogy detective Jackie Jeffers Gant will examine alternative documents to help dismantle this “brick wall” one brick at a time.

Jackie Jeffers Gant is a native of Person County, NC and grew up in Winston-Salem, NC. She has deep roots  in the Lawson Chapel Church area and Roxboro township. The journey to “marry” oral history with documentation  is her mission, ministry, and passion.
