JOB TITLE: Social Worker Investigation, Assessment, & Treatment (On-Call)

DUTIES: The primary responsibility in this position is to provide coverage for the agency after hours, on weekends, and on holidays to assure continuity in service delivery during those times when the agency is closed. Services provided include responding to Protective Services referrals for adults and children; preparing petitions, court reports, and daily written reports; completing evaluations for home studies as well as providing supervisory visits for children who are visiting in the county for short periods of time and providing feedback to referring agencies; provide information and referral assistance to requesting county residents; counseling for families in crisis situations; services for children or adults who are already in foster care or adult care homes; or any of the services offered by the agency to citizens of the county that are routinely served by other social workers in the agency. This employee must be able to work with a variety of personality types and have good communication skills both orally and written. The successful candidate must have a history of being able to work independently, after training, and of demonstrating initiative.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: This employee reports to the office at 4:00 p.m. on days when the agency is open and must be willing to act as “first responder” to emergency situations reported late in the day or at night. Work on weekends will be expected with designated weekends off. Employee must also have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and willingness to travel outside Person County as needed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work or counseling experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or four year degree in a human service field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work, or community organization or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
